SKB Cello 4/4 Roto Molded Shell Review

I was looking for a travel cello case,something that would protect my cello from the airline baggage people's rough handling and this case looked and is very reliable since I've heard the fiberglass ones can crack if handled roughly. This case is very suitable and does protect my cello the way i expected it to. Even looking at the picture it looks sturdier and a more durable material then it actually is. I expected the outside of it to be some sort of cemetric like material on the outside but it is plastic, but it is still a good case. but it is military grade and it durable. but also lighter then i thought it would be.

D'Addario Helicore 4/4 Cello String Set Medium Gauge Review

Just tried these on yesterday. Break-in time was near nil. The two lower - tungsten winding on silver G and C are OK - thinner and easier to play than tungsten/chrome or chrome/steel but less sound.

That said, I quickly dumped the new titanium uppers - way too many wolves. Wolf on fourth position F on the G string is normal, but F in first position on the D??? That's a new one. Also, if fingers aren't absolutely solid on the string, way too easy to get a completely scrambled sound on the A. So, unreliable for fast passages. And no coloration at all. So, I have nothing good to say about the uppers.

With unlimited funds, I'd get good chrome steel winding on steel core (maybe Larsens or Larsen soloist) for the A, D, and C strings, with tungsten on steel for the G to add resonance. Haven't tried Larsen lowers, but heretofore, adding tungsten/steel for the C string made my overall sound too nasal, plus that combo required too much left hand force.

Super Sensitive Steelcore 4/4 Cello Strings: Set Review

These are the more generic brand of strings, they dont really have as good of sound quality as theyer making it sound. However these are good for what you pay for them, they are also a good string for beginers or students. But you would never see a professional using these and thats because they are not very good, there are better strings for when a student or beginer whants so take it to the next step. I have used these ever since I started playing the cello and I just dont think they measuer up to other brands, but for the time i started and was only begining they were a good string for my level.

Cello Necklace Review

Disney Solos for Cello [Paperback] Review

I'm a flute teacher with a large studio, and use this book occasionally for sight-reading.My students enjoy playing something familiar.I agree with the other review that it is not a book for first year students. The range is quite wide, and the rhythms are not simple.The key signatures are true to the original, so several flats are common.

I played through it myself when it first arrived.The CD is accurate to the book.It offers the choice of accompaniment with or without the melody, which is helpful for learning.The band accompaniment is less "cheesy" than some out there.It sounds like live as opposed to synthesized instruments.

A very nice collection of familiar tunes.
